The Regiment Gallery

The Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Regiment Gallery

The gallery tells the story of the Regiment’s history from its formation in 1688 until the present day as part of the Royal Anglian Regiment.  The Gallery features a wealth of objects and medals, uniformed figures and photographs, as well as an interactive audio-visual display. Learn about the Soldiers of the Regiment who were awarded the highest gallantry award, the Victoria Cross. (We display our VC medal groups one at a time on a rota basis).

You can meet volunteer members of the Regimental Trust every Wednesday morning between 10am and 12 noon. If you wish to speak to someone concerning Family History research, or with a general enquiry,

Officer's helmet plate, in use 1881-1901
One of the more unusual items in our collection: a coconut engraved with the regimental crest and the name of its owner, Owen Grogan. The engraved coconut was found in the Australian Bush in the 1860s and donated to the Regiment in 1906
