The Culture Trust , Luton invites tenders for an exciting opportunity to create a new daytime offer in the Hat Factory Arts Centre café. Open 9.00am – 5.00pm this shall be a new type of destination for food and drink, right in the heart of Luton. Situated on the main thoroughfare between Luton central train station and the town centre the Hat Factory Arts Centre is in a prime location with an estimated daily footfall in excess of 8k. The food and beverage offer will compliment and respond to the year-round programme of activity presented in the Hat Factory Arts Centre. This is an enticing time to invest in Luton with the imminent construction of The Stage and Luton Town’s new stadium at Power Court.

The operations team are currently seeking some additions to the team.

You will need to assist the teams by providing casual support work in Culture Trust venues, including our creative spaces, museums and arts venues, providing assistance to visiting customers and at events, by undertaking a range of duties, ensuring a high quality of customer service and contributing to the continuous improvement of the Trust. 

With experience of dealing with the public, you will be able to work in a team and be capable of supervising public areas and events.  You will be required to carry out a range of administrative tasks, sale of refreshments and retail goods, setting up equipment and using various IT packages.

We require casual team members who are available to work various shifts during weekdays, evenings or weekends at various venues around Luton.

We have an exciting opportunity within the Commercial and Operations teams, for Casual Duty Managers, to assist with the day to day provision of a high quality front of house and commercial service at The Culture Trust Venues and during events. 

The successful applicant will be the primary contact point and lead front-line staff at all sites.  You will be the first point of contact for staff, customers, hirers and users of the facilities, ensuring the health and safety and well-being of all staff and users, as well as dealing with all technical, building and commercial issues.  You will be responsible for the delivery of excellent customer care at all times and ensuring outstanding customer satisfaction.

About you:

You will have experience of managing events, staff and buildings as well as experience of delivering a high quality customer experience.  You will have good written and spoken communication skills and experience of supervising others to ensure the smooth running of buildings and events.

You will have knowledge of health and safety legislation and regulations, and some knowledge of licensing.  You will be able to work on your own initiative within established procedures and guidelines and be confident to deal with a busy environment and resolve any issues that arise.

We have an exciting role where you will provide a vibrant and high quality customer service by undertaking a wide range of duties in a proactive, friendly and positive manner. Provide information and support to users and ensure all Trust venues are safe, secure and well presented.

In this vital role, you’ll undertake financial procedures including operating a till and banking procedures in accordance with the Trust’s financial regulations. You’ll also undertake clerical procedures including inputting data to maintain accurate records, taking into account Data Protection legislation.

 This opportunity will be based across our museums and art centre sites on a variable shift rota and will include weekends.

About You:

This is a public facing role so you’ll need to demonstrate your fluency in spoken and written English.

We are looking for an exceptional Head of Marketing to lead on all of our marketing activity as we continue to build and develop our museum and theatre programmes. 
 

The successful applicant will be responsible for maximising box office revenues by delivering timely and effective marketing campaigns for all shows and to work with the Digital Marketing Coordinator on social media and digital plans and implementation. 

About you:

As a senior marketing expert, you’ll be adept at creating inspiring and effective campaigns that are imaginative, exciting and relevant to the large range of activities and events that take place across The Culture Trusts portfolio of venues. 

Able to multi-task, you will have 3 – 5 years of experience working at a marketing management level, with experience of using a box office system like Spektrix or similar. 

A flexible, team player, you will need to work occasional unsocial hours due to the nature of the organisation.

 About the Job:

Are you an experienced Curator passionate about connecting communities with culture? If yes, then this may be the role for you.

The Culture Trust, Luton’s Museum Curator will work across our museum and heritage sites to engage audiences through collections and stories. You will lead collections development and research, enabling access for a broad range of communities. You will provide expert advice and support, including working on our NPO programme at Wardown House, Museum and Gallery. And you will manage the development of our permanent galleries, temporary exhibitions, and outreach, helping us celebrate the centenary of the collection in 2027.

Working alongside the Head of Museums, Collections and Heritage, your experience will directly impact our practice, bringing a collaborative, participatory approach to curation. You will work closely on the development of new policies and strategy which underpin our work. 

The Culture Trust looks after the museum collection on behalf of Luton Borough Council. These encompass; the Hat Industry and Headwear Collection, covering over 400 years of hat-making in Luton; the Mossman Collection of horse drawn carriages; rare and unique medieval history, including the Wenlock Jug; plus, natural history, archaeology, costume, rural crafts, and fine art from Luton and the surrounding areas.

About you:

You will need to possess demonstrable experience of collections development and research, engagement with a wide range of audiences, and interpretation and display.

You will need to have effective communication skills, able to work collaboratively with multiple partners and stakeholders, and prioritise multiple demands.

We would expect you to have academic or curatorial knowledge within at least one thematic area of the museum collection, plus knowledge of museum Collections Management Systems.
