Join us for an unforgettable afternoon of live South Asian classical music presented by zerOclassikal in the stunning Victorian-era Drawing Room at Wardown House, Museum and Gallery.

This time with a special double bill featuring Swara Divyesh Patel (Hindustani classical vocals) and Jonathan Mayer (sitar) with tabla accompaniment.

Bios

Jonathan Mayer

Jonathan Mayer, son of the late Kolkata composer John Mayer, is a renowned sitarist & composer, who has composed extensively for many genres including jazz, Indian, dance & symphonic writing and has performed all over the world, and two very successful tours in India. He began his musical training at just 5 years old, learning violin from his grandfather Albert Hepton, piano from James Methuen-Campbell and composition from his father, and later mastered the sitar. His ability to read Western notation has allowed him to perform in a variety of genres – playing with artists such as Orlando Consort, The London Philharmonic Orchestra and BBC Concert Orchestra, among other notable names.

Swara Divyesh Patel

Swara Divyesh Patel is a 17 year old UK-based up and coming Hindustani Classical singer. Her musical journey began at the young age of 6 years, and currently she is training in the Khayal tradition. Swara has presented recitals at several venues, including The Bhavan, Harrow Arts Centre and Chinmaya Kirti. Swara has also trained to an advanced level as a pianist and the versatility in two classical music systems makes her performance more rounded and unique. She has a strong desire to continue her journey in music alongside her higher education. Khayal is her passion and she is inspired by the creativity the genre allows.
