An Inherited Heritage: Industrial architectural fragments and collective memories.

This exhibition explores the implications of Luton’s rich industrial heritage on the current built fabric and the local community’s collective memories, aiming to bring to the forefront minor and hidden histories.

This exhibition has been designed and curated by Aisha Hassan, a student at the internationally renowned Bartlett School of Architecture, forming the foundation for her MA Thesis in Architecture and Historic Urban Environments. By combining oral history interviews, experimental mapping and archival research, Aisha recreates an impression of the lived experiences linked to Luton’s industrial built history, touching on themes of migration, demolition and memory.

The exhibition is a collection of photography, maps, sound and sculpture.

This exhibition is open to the public at Hat House during the following dates:
1st, 2nd, 8th, 9th, 14th, 15th & 16th of September, Thu 6 October.
