Hat District Lates: Black History Month

In partnership with The UK Centre for Carnival arts, to kick off Black History Month we are bringing you an explosion of Black Culture for Hat District Lates. DJs, dancers, costumes showcases and more.

Celebrating Black cultures in Carnival with DJs, dancers, costumes and crafts. Pop down and join in the celebrations with us. Full programme below.

Umunwanyi ICL Cultural Dance Group

Celebrating carnival's African roots with a cultural showcase from the Luton Igbo Community with dances and masquerade from the Nigerian tradition.

 

Worriorz Performing Arts Academy

Luton Carnival favourites, Worriorz, bring you black influenced dances over 3 sets throughout the evening.

 

Drumming workshops with Martin Ekow Hanson

Join Luton artist Martin Ekow Hanson to have a go at traditional Ghanian drumming with performance sets from Martin throughout the evening.

 

DJ sets from Skill Lab #TransferringSkills

Celebrating Black influenced electronic music across the genres.

 

Caribbean food served

UK Centre for Carnival Arts has cooked up a storm with, Mutton Curry, Veg curry, Jerk Chicken (halal) and Rice and peas.
