Eat, Drink and Create every first Thursday of the month at Hat District Lates!

Join us for an extended programme of free and events across the Hat District to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. Expect live music, arts and street food & drink from 2pm – 9pm as part of our new regular creative social - Hat District Lates.

What's On this Month:

On the outside stage we have....

Soul Food Poetry (hosting the outside stage from 2pm - 9pm)
Back by popular demand, Soul Food Poetry have put together an eclectic mix of DJs and musicians to host the event, and share their good vibes and big energy across the Hat District. Catch them at Hat District Lates as our resident band and hosts all throughout the summer alongside guest performers yet to be announced. Watch this space!

NGYT Taleshakers Sessions. (2:15pm - 2:45pm & 4pm - 4:30pm - Just turn up!)
Revel, rave and rhyme in a journey combining storytelling, games and movement, the perfect playground for little but large imaginations to run wild and free. Join us on Bute Street in The Hat District (or perhaps both!) but be ready to shake your tail feathers!

Jazzcotech Funk Dance Sessions (3pm - 3:30pm & 4:45pm- 5pm - Just turn up!)
Perry Louis, founder of JazzCotech, is one of the few remaining Dancers of the original UK JazzFunk and Dancefloor Jazz scene. As part of the Jubilee Celebrations on 2nd June, Perry and fellow JazzCotech Dancer Christiane Hennecke will be hosting 2 half hour workshops in the unique style of British Funk & JazzFunk Dance, a unique style has its roots in UK clubs from the 1970s and '80s and is still influencing popular Dance styles all over the world today. This will be a fun workshop and you’ll leave with a few new moves in your repertoire!

Decorate your own Jubilee Hat. (2pm - 5pm)
Creative practitioner Anne-Marie Abbate will inspire your creative flare in this Jubilee inspired arts and craft hat craft. Whether you want to colour a hat like the union jack or make it dazzle like a jewel you can be sure to walk away with a unique creation to you.

Street food in the Hat District
Try out some of the delicious street food on offer from food companies Oxford Surf'N'Fries, and The Weeping Chef as they bring their fresh flavours to the District for all to enjoy. Gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian options available. Alec, from The Weeping Chef, gave up his day job after discovering his talent and passion for cooking in 2012 whilst on Masterchef and Oxford Surf'N'Fries are known for their mouth-watering chips. Make sure you come hungry.

Steve Dillon Exhibition in Hat House Basement (Public viewing from 5pm)
An exhibition showcasing and celebrating the work of British Lutonian comic book artist, Steve Dillon, best known for his work on Judge Dredd, Rogue Trooper, Hellblazer, Punisher and Preacher. This exhibition features some of his earliest works dating back to 1978 when he was only 16 years old and had just started on Marvel UK’s ‘Hulk’ magazine, drawing Nick Fury.
