Luton Literature Book Festival Presents:

This author event with Sufiya Ahmed, author of the Rosie Raja series, offers a chance to dive into an exciting historical adventure series featuring a bold and inspiring young heroine. Sufiya Ahmed brings history to life through Rosie Raja’s daring World War II adventures, blending action with important themes like bravery, family, and cultural heritage.

Set in the thick of codebreaking adventures in Bletchley Park, with an engaging, determined, Muslim heroine. Perfect for fans of Michael Morpurgo and Emma Carroll, and those looking for diverse historical fiction. The event is perfect for young readers and history enthusiasts, providing insights into the inspiration behind the series, Ahmed’s research process, and the importance of diverse representation in historical fiction. It promises to be both educational and empowering for readers of all ages.

This event will be introduced by performer and poet Lee Nelson, who will facilitate an audience Q&A session.

Please note: Children must be accompanied by an adult. One free accompanying adult ticket is required per booking – any additional adults will need to book an Adult ticket for the event.

Biography

Sufiya Ahmed

Sufiya Ahmed worked in advertising and in the House of Commons before becoming a full-time author. In 2010 she set up the BIBI Foundation, which arranges visits to the Houses of Parliament for children from underprivileged backgrounds. Sufiya has written several children’s books including My Story: Noor-Un-Nissa Inayat Khan, Secrets of the Henna Girl and Under the Great Plum Tree, which was longlisted for the UK Literacy Association Book Awards.
